Located in the heart of Chelsea Design Quarter, this end-of-terrace townhouse was completely transformed into a contemporary London home designed for modern family life.
Working closely with the interior design team at Cochrane Design, Cochrane Bespoke played a key role in redefining the property through the use of luxury bespoke joinery and architectural detailing.

Blending Functionality with Style
The client’s vision centred around creating an open-plan home that felt elegant yet practical for entertaining.
With the original façade retained, the interior was rebuilt from the ground up, allowing for a more fluid layout. Our custom joinery became the unifying element, linking each space through consistent materials, proportions, and finishes.
Every detail, from the staircase balustrade to the kitchen cabinetry and wall panelling, was designed to enhance the home’s sense of flow.
The bespoke kitchen joinery was crafted to integrate seamlessly with the open-plan living and dining areas, providing both concealed storage and display opportunities without interrupting the architectural rhythm of the space.
Material Selection and Craftsmanship
A calm, warm grey palette was chosen to complement the house’s natural light, while charcoal-stained timber and soft matt finishes introduced depth and contrast.
Cochrane Bespoke sourced and finished every surface in-house, ensuring tone, texture, and sheen were perfectly balanced across the joinery.
Each piece was hand-finished by our craftsmen, combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern precision. This meticulous approach allowed the joinery to blend effortlessly with the architectural framework, achieving the refined simplicity that defines high-end London interiors.
Creating a Sense of Connection
The open-plan design relies on visual continuity. Our joinery detailing, from shadow gaps and integrated lighting to the alignment of rails and panels, maintained that flow between levels.

The double-height reception area and dining space, flooded with natural light, are grounded by these consistent design elements, creating a sense of cohesion throughout the home.
The Result
What began as a traditional Chelsea townhouse now stands as a modern, family-focused home that balances architectural structure with bespoke craftsmanship.

Through carefully considered joinery, we helped deliver a design that feels cohesive, timeless, and distinctly London.
Takeaways
- Bespoke joinery enhances both the function and character of modern homes.
- Material consistency and detailing create a natural flow between spaces.
- Collaboration between design and craftsmanship delivers interiors that feel truly built-in rather than added on.
